Appalachian Blue

This band came to be when band members Chet Polson (banjo), Tom Woodle (guitar), and Len Ketner (bass) formed a trio to play at a local arts festival in May of 1987. Their performance was so well received; they decided to keep the group together. A few years later Kim Denison (mandolin) joined the group. The result is a dynamic bluegrass band that has toured South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia for the last fifteen years.

The members of this group have extensive musical backgrounds, playing individually and collectively in shows with talents such as. Reba McIntyre, Lee Greenwood, The Reno Brothers, and others.

While the foundation of the band’s repertoire is traditional and -contemporary bluegrass and bluegrass gospel, they do enjoy converting a few other musical genres into bluegrass. Two of their favorites are; Mow Grass (Motown and Bluegrass) and Bleach Music (Beach music and Bluegrass). In addition the band performs original material. Their expertise as instrumentalists and their tight three and four part harmony vocals combine to form one of the best bands in the area.

This band is available as stage performers, a roving band, and they enjoy doing gospel programs for church groups and other organizations.
