The County Line Band has been touring regions of South Carolina for over three years. They took the name County Line Band because its members came from different parts of the state and they cross many different counties to play bluegrass music.
The band plays traditional and contemporary Bluegrass music. The strong harmonies and a driving rhythm have become a characteristic of the band. Jim Lewallen, of Timmonsville, plays guitar. He is joined by Drew McDonald on bass and Stimey Mathis on mandolin. Drew, also known as "Red Dog", has written a number of songs for the group and is from Holly Hill, SC, while Stimey is from Summerton. Strong rhythms also are produced by Junior Steelman, on the 5-string banjo. He is from Columbia, SC. Occasionally, the band adds a fifth member--David Rawls from Lexington on the Dobro.
This band is entertaining and plays with enthusiasm no matter the occasion. Their schedule is tight as they play gigs around the Santee area, civic events, holiday celebrations and make person appearances.
